Inspired by the tree tops in the murals at the “Villa of Livia” just outside of Rome, this is one of two pieces in this series inspired by works not found in the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Theses murals reside in a villa given to Livia Drusilla in 39 B.C., upon her marriage to Emperor Augustus. The airiness and energy of these murals combined with the rich history and interesting figures of history who would have stood before it inspired me beyond my previous boundaries. The end result is a charming and lively painting with a little twist of intrigue for those who would look deeper.

This 24”x36” acrylic creation is painted on archival canvas and framed in a natural wood floater frame to give it just the right amount of emphasis without overwhelming or overshadowing the piece’s simple beauty.
